Transgender woman shot in Philadelphia

Police are investigating a shooting in West Philadelphia that has left one person hospitalized.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police are seeking two suspects after they say a transgender woman was followed after leaving a bar and shot in Philadelphia.

The shooting occurred late Sunday night on Malvern Avenue.

The victim was near the bus stop in the 6600 block of Malvern Avenue, police say, when a man approached and fired five times with a .22 caliber handgun.

Police say the 21-year-old woman had left a bar on 66th Street and Lansdown Avenue when she was approached by a man who fired five times with a handgun.

The woman is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the hip.

Police say the victim and the suspect were at the same bar earlier in the evening.

Officers are seeking two suspects who were caught on surveillance video.
